How We Define Wedding Stationery

We (obviously!) jump at the chance to talk about wedding stationery, and we’re always eager to share everything we know about paper with engaged couples, friends, family and fellow wedding professionals! But the more we share, the more we realize so many people have the exact same question…

Let's define it! What is wedding stationery?

Our view? Why let anyone wonder when we can keep everyone in the know! So today, we’re breaking it all down, piece by piece, and talking all about our favorite topic – wedding stationery. We’re sharing what it is and (more importantly!) what’s included. Let’s talk paper!

At its core, wedding stationery includes any printed piece that shares information about your wedding. The first thing that comes to mind for many people is wedding invitations, and they’re definitely part of the mix! But, wedding stationery isn’t limited to just paper. As we mentioned, it’s anything that’s printed. So, that includes items like welcome signs, escort card displays, table numbers, dinner menus, ceremony programs and more! Let’s explore the items you might want to have on hand for each aspect of your wedding.

BEFORE YOU WALK DOWN THE AISLE

Once you’re officially engaged, there are plenty of pre-wedding events that will be added to your calendar. Engagement parties, bridal showers, bachelor and bachelorette parties – the list continues! Save-the-Dates also fall into this category. Here’s a peek at what we have designed and what we typically recommend:

  • Engagement Party Invitations

  • Bridal Shower Invitations

  • Bridal Shower Thank You Cards

  • Save-the-Dates

  • Bachelor and Bachelorette Party Invitations

  • Wedding Welcome Party Invitations

  • Rehearsal Dinner Invitations

  • Welcome Bags – We love including custom maps of the city where your wedding is taking place along with places you recommend your guests visit while they’re in town! A note from you is also a key item to include.

WEDDING INVITATIONS : THE “MAIN EVENT”

This is where your actual Wedding Invites fall into the mix! Your invitations are the first taste your guests get of your wedding, so you want to make sure they not only accurately represent your wedding aesthetic, but you two as a couple. They also need to be extremely user-friendly, easy to read and cover all of the nitty-gritty details that guests need to know. For many people, this is the biggest celebration they’ll ever throw in their lifetime (with potentially hundreds of people attending) and there’s an abundance of details that need covered to make sure everything runs smoothly on the big day. Pieces that can be included in your wedding suite are:

  • The Invitation

  • Details Card

  • Reception Card

  • Accommodations Card

  • RSVP Card

  • RSVP Envelope

  • Map / Directions Card

  • Weekend Events Card

  • Local Attractions Card (this is especially great if you’re inviting a lot of out-of-town guests)

  • Housing Envelope

ON YOUR WEDDING DAY

After the pre-wedding events have passed, we dive into a couple’s actual wedding day! And, there’s many items to consider! These are the goods that “brand” your actual event and make it as unique experience. We term any printed pieces that are incorporated into your wedding day “Day-Of Signage”. Here’s what we love to design:

  • Welcome Sign

  • Ceremony Programs

  • Ceremony Signs

  • Signature Cocktail Signs

  • Memorial Sign

  • Escort Cards

  • Escort Card Signs

  • Seating Chart

  • Cocktail Signs

  • Cocktail Napkins & Stir Sticks

  • Buffet Table Signs

  • Dessert Table Signs

  • Cards & Gift Sign

  • Menus

  • Place Cards

  • Table Numbers

  • Labels for Favors

  • Favor Sign

  • Table Numbers

  • Guest Book Sign

  • Late Night Snack Sign

  • …and more!

AFTER THE CELEBRATION

Even after your wedding day, the stationery love can continue! To keep the aesthetic of your celebration in mind, we often design “branded” thank you cards for couples to send to their guests that match the rest of their stationery and signage – if you haven’t noticed, we’re all about cohesiveness and continuity.

Now you’re officially in the know about all things wedding stationery! If you have additional questions, please reach out. We’re happy to keep the paper conversation going!
